How is your information shared on, and within, the My Place platform or with our partners, affiliates, and advertisers?

advertisers when, and if they ask.
  • You should only share if you trust the person with whom you are sharing the information.
  • Be aware of the information you share when, and if, a partner, affiliate, or advertiser
request same to conduct business or inquire for general purposes.
People and accounts you share and communicate with

The My Place platform allows you, at times, to select who you share information with and what others can read about you. There will be times when you are asked about the level of sharing you wish to have for the information you enter.

If you choose to share information with the My Place partners, affiliates, and advertisers they will be able to see the information you share with them.

For instance, if you choose to make your journal entry public, others will be able to see the entry which may include your:

  • Life Story
  • Photos and videos
  • Family Tree
  • Connected Members
  • Additional information about you
What you communicate with them

The platform offers members the ability to directly communicate with other members. If you choose to send messages to other members, they will be able to see what you send them in its entirety. Whether it is an immediately available message or a pre-message, the information sent will be able to be seen by the other person at some point.

Some of your activity

There are areas on the platform where activity is displayed for others to see. This type of display could include when you are logged on to the platform or are actively engaged in some area of the platform. In this case, your activity may be seen by others. This activity could include (but limited to):

  • An update made to your account
  • A comment made on another member’s account
  • A recent use of a service or purchase of a product offered on the platform
Content others share or reshare about you
Who can see or reshare your content

It is possible for people to view and then share, via copying and then pasting a link, your account information when it is made public. For instance, someone can see your profile page in the community section, copy the link from the webpage, and then share it to another platform or device (e.g. send via a messaging service like text).

Additionally, it is possible for members and non-members to view and see comments you have made to other member’s photos, videos, journal entries when these are made public within the setting’s features.

Because settings can be changed, the people who can see and view your information (e.g. comments) may change also. For instance, if you comment on another member’s photo and the member changes their settings for that photo from private to public, your information may then be seen where it originally was not seen by non-members.

How information about you can be shared

Because people attend the same events or have the same experiences with each other, it is possible your information (e.g. photo, video, or written description) may be shared on another member’s account. For instance, two people attending the same event may post to their account a memory about that event which involved both members. Additionally, members can:

  • Share similar, or the same photo, video, written description within a comment in their
    account(s)
  • Make a mention of another member’s attendance at an event
  • Create a tag of each other within each other’s post(s)
  • Share similar details about each other in a journal entry
Because My Place’s platform is designed to supplement regular social media services, it is recommended members refrain from negative comments, untruthful statements, and political or religious debates on the platform. In the event a member is upset over a particular comment, photo, video, or other upload, in which they are mentioned, they can request a review of the information by the My Place platform review team for possible removal of the information and also up to and including a suspension or revoking of an account.

Public content
What content is public?

Some of your information and activity are always public. This includes your name, My Place platform handle, uploaded pictures may be set as public, and information you have added to your journal as being public (e.g. life story, event participation, etc.).

My Place offers the member to set most information uploaded into a public view option.

Who can see public content?

In an effort to have your life remembered and available to be recalled easily, information set to public is offered up for viewing by anyone (member or non-member) accessing the MyPlaceForever.com website as long as the viewer selects the member’s thumbnail within the community section of the platform.

For example, if a member comments on another member’s photo, video, or journal entry of any kind, then both member’s information may be seen by anyone viewing the posting member’s Eternal Journal and then if the viewing party selects to see the commenting party’s Eternal Journal information all information, and more, may be seen again.

Where can public content be shared?

Anyone using the platform can send information made public to anyone from any type of device able to do so. For instance, someone viewing your Eternal Journal page can copy the URL for your Eternal Journal and then send it via text message to someone so they can also access your Eternal Journal. This function is important for your life story to be made visible by those who want to learn about you (e.g. family members you have never met), and possibly friends looking to find you after years of being separated.

Additionally, a member’s public content can also be seen, accessed, shared, and downloaded via
a third-party partner or service. These partners and third-party services are (but not limited to):

  • Online search engines
  • Third party API’s on the platform
  • Various media outlets (e.g. television, podcasts, blog sites)

In this circumstance permission will come from the partner and/or associated party. Be sure to review the explanation they provide to see how they plan on using the additional information and how you can decline the offer.

It is possible My Place will have knowledge of the request made by the partner and/or associated resource. In the event My Place is notified of the request, My Place may log the request. Understand these requests are different from those requests made from the My Place platform (website and App) from any device (e.g. mobile, tablet, or desktop) and the settings options selected from those devices on the platforms.

How long they can access your information

It is possible that the apps and/or websites you’ve logged into using the My Place platform (e.g. the partners and associated resources) will be able to access your nonpublic information on the My Place platform. My Place recommends and encourages the members to check settings and options within the apps and/or websites, and of all accessed apps and/or websites, periodically to see which ones may still have access to shared and given information.

When you interact with someone else’s content on an integrated partner’s product or service

When you access My Place’s partners and associated resources apps and/or websites, they receive your activity information when interacting with other members, if this option applies.

For instance, if a member shares a social media post from another platform, and other members comment on the post, the partners and associated resources may receive all given information within the post, if the originating platform integrates with the My Place platform.

How integrated partners handle your information

My Place does not govern other platform’s handling of information. It is highly recommended the user reviews all applicable privacy policies of the platform they interact with and ensure it meets the user’s online use goals. Each website should have a privacy policy describing how and when they access information given them.

  • Advertisers who partner with My Place and use our advertising information
  • My Place’s marketing teams and hired marketing companies
  • Other businesses (e.g. who assist in marketing, advertising, surveying, data analysis)
  • Research and Development teams and partner companies

It would not benefit My Place or the members to sell your  information, so My Place will not sell your information.

Additionally, My Place governs our partners and associated resources in their use of the information they obtain and My Place requires them to follow our rules about how they may, or may not, use and disclose information given to them by My Place members.

Additional information about who My Place shares information with:

Advertisers and Audience Network publishers
Advertisers

My Place interacts and shares information with its advertisers in many ways to develop robust advertisement campaigns. This includes sharing reports on the demographic information on a viewer (of the ad) and the kinds of people, things they like, and other miscellaneous information about the viewer. However, the information will not divulge or be used in an effort to identify the member. This sharing process is used to describe the ad audience so the advertiser can better

understand who views their ad.

Some of the additional information My Place provides to the advertiser, but is not directly about the member is:

  • The ads members will engage with, if any
  • When the member engaged with ads
  • Where on the My Place platform the ad was shown (e.g. what page on the platform/app)

Actions like, making purchases, downloading apps, etc. are analyzed to determine which ads are most effective. However, My Place does not share information (e.g. your name, address, email address, etc.) with the advertiser, which could then be used to identify you, unless such permission to do so is granted by you.

Partners who offer goods or services on our Products and commerce services platforms

My Place has partnerships with many vendors (aka partners, affiliates, and resources) who provide products and services, which My Place believes to be a benefit for our members. • Device information as it pertains to the security of your transaction
  • Miscellaneous information as it pertains to regulations

For instance, a specific advertiser may work with a partner analytics team to determine an ads effectiveness and the information My Place analyzes would not suffice in the advertiser’s needs. Therefore, My Place may share certain non-identifying information about an ad and the ad’s viewers and interactors. This way the advertiser can adjust the ad’s performance features where applicable

Therefore, My Place will share non-identifying information about you with My Place’s marketing team and vendor to better offer you applicable advertising to suit your needs and wants.
